Glenorchy

The drive to Glenorchy this morning was sensational. It is so beautiful in this corner of New Zealand. I was a little sad to say goodbye to Arrowtown (especially the blooming lupin) but so excited knowing that Justin must be coming soon if I'm moving on.
I love you, Lupin

Had a nice day here despite it turning rather wet.
Went for a lovely walk, who minds the rain when you're surrounded with these views?!

Tried to justify purchasing a possum fur hat. Came up with ziltch. Very tempting, though. The fur is so soft! Maybe if we ever move to Russia?

Walkin' the doggies NZ-style:

In case you were wondering:

Tomorrow will be a long drive to Oamaru. I'm hoping to see my first wild penguins!

  1. The lupin is divine. I remember seeing it around Te Anu when we were there.

Hope you see Penguins. They are SOOOO cute. Only saw them in Otago when in NZ.

  2. Today is my last full day of work and then I am off to Dubai tomorrow night for my flight to NZ on Monday morning. It really does not feel like I am leaving the desert for good...such a strange feeling to see my bags packed (I have been packed now for 3 weeks...a bit anxious to get out of here to say the least).
It has been a good 11 months and I have learned a lot and gained some very valuable experience. Living and working in the UAE has been absolutely fascinating. However, I will not miss living in the 5,000 man camp and I will especially not miss the RR cycle of only getting to see Felicity every 3 months. I am very excited for us to be able to have all of this time in NZ together. The best part is that after our trip we actually get to fly back to the States TOGETHER.

Thank you to all of our family and friends for your support over this past year. I still can’t believe that 2009 is coming to a close. I sometimes forget all of the places that Felicity has been over the past year. However, I am quickly reminded when I go to my cellphone to call her and I have to scroll through the following:
    Felicity Elephant Refuge 1
    Felicity Elephant Refuge 2
    Felicity Ele Camp (Chris’s Cell)
    Felicity Teaching (Kim)
    Felicity Thailand Aleenta
    Felicity Thailand Bangkok
    Felicity Thailand Six Sense
    Felicity NZ Cell
    Felicity NZ Sharika
    Felicity NZ Cattle Station
    Felicity Home
    Felicity Cell

I will be happy to just use the last two for now on.

    So Proud of you Kiki!
See you in a couple of Days.
    Love You,
    J
